FAQ
Why don't some residents get a waste collection service to their home?
Council would like to provide a waste collection to each home however, some roads are not accessible for the size of our collection vehicles, others are too far from existing runs with too few residents. If you believe that there are sufficient residents and road access to warrant a service please contact Council by phone; 1300 87 83 87 or click here.
Are there other places I can drop-off my recycling waste for free?
Yes, you can drop-off recycling items at the Lismore Recycling & Recovery Centre on Wyrallah Road or at the Nimbin Transfer Station, Blade Road, Nimbin free of charge. Please note, that if you drop-off general waste charges will apply. Please click here to see fees and charges.
Why has Council put bars across the openings of recycling skips?
We are aware that these bars do make it harder (or impossible) to place certain recycling materials into the skip however, this was necessary to stop people climbing into the skip. We apologise for the inconvenience but this is a necessary safety precaution. If you cannot fit an item into the skip you can take it to the Lismore Recycling & Recovery Centre on Wyrallah Road free of charge.
What is the Waste Voucher System?
The system entitles residential voucher holders to three free visits, and commercial / business voucher holders two free visits to the Lismore Recycling & Recovery Centre or Nimbin Transfer station each year.
