About the Project
Caniaba's Adam Gilchrist sport and recreation facilities are scheduled for an upgrade.
This project represents a unique opportunity for the Caniaba community to provide their feedback on how they would like to see the recreational facilities upgraded to create a more inclusive, versatile, and enjoyable environment for all community members.

Outcome Report Now Available
We are excited to share the results of our community engagement for the Caniaba Sport and Recreation Facility upgrades. Throughout the consultation period, we received valuable insights from community members, both through online surveys and at our in-person event. This feedback has played a crucial role in shaping the future of the facilities to better serve the diverse needs of our community.

Project Update
Based valuable community feedback gathered during the June Community BBQ and our online survey, upgrades to the recreation facilities are moving forward. We’re excited to transform the space into a versatile and inclusive environment for everyone.
Phase 1 Improvements
We’re pleased to share the detailed Phase 1 Improvement Plan, outlining the first stage of upgrades:
Multipurpose Court: The existing tennis court will be upgraded to support tennis, basketball, and pickleball, featuring a new, durable acrylic surface.
🏏 Synthetic Cricket Nets: Two new cricket nets will provide state-of-the-art training facilities for local cricketers.

Expected Completion: 30 June 2025
Phase 2 Enhancements
Phase 2 upgrades are expected to be delivered within 4-6 years, subject to budget availability and successful grant applications.
As part of the second phase of the project, future plans include exploring options to replace the playground, focusing on greater space for play, more variety, accessible play and safety in design. Detailed designs will be shared with the community once available.
