Consultation has concluded
The Draft Events Strategy is now available for review and feedback.
The Events Strategy provides a framework to drive a collaborative approach in seeking, attracting, managing and supporting events in our region. In particular, it aims to foster a shared sense of ownership and enable Lismore, Nimbin and Villages events to effectively contribute and benefit from the wider strategic direction of the destination, and state plans to 2028 and beyond.
Its purpose is to help the Lismore LGA firmly position itself as the creative arts, sporting and sustainable lifestyle events capital of the North Coast NSW. Events contribute to economic growth for the future liveability and well-being of the local communities and businesses, attracting visitors and residents now and into the future.
In 2023, consultation activities included community workshops, interviews with stakeholders and an online survey that captured 98 responses from events stakeholders across the LGA. Supported by tourism and events specialist, Krista Hauritz, an extensive report was developed from the feedback that informed this Draft Events Strategy.
