Expression of Interest - Nimbin Advisory Group (NAG)

Lismore City Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from anyone who is 18 years and over and is a passionate Nimbin community member who would like to make a difference in the community.

The Nimbin Advisory Group (NAG) consists of 10 community members and is chaired by the Mayor of Lismore City Council or his/her delegated Councillor. This is not a decision-making or voting body on behalf of Council, but a group that provides advice to Council on issues relating to Nimbin.

Members will be selected by Council to achieve a broad representation of people living in Nimbin. Meetings of this group are in Nimbin each quarter.

Scope and objectives of the NAG

The Nimbin Advisory Group is an advisory panel to Council. The primary objective of the Nimbin Advisory Group is to provide advice and guidance to Council on a range of matters impacting the Nimbin community.

The scope of the Nimbin Advisory Group includes:

• Engagement with the Sustainable Nimbin Community Plan as a guide to the overall goals of the Nimbin community.
• Providing input into the Delivery Program process.
• Identifying potential funding and partnership opportunities.
• Identifying community issues for Nimbin that are relevant to Council.
• Advising Council on the need for, and appropriate methods of, consultation with the wider community, with consideration given to constraints.
• Keeping the community informed and undertaking its own consultations where considered valuable/appropriate.
• Identifying appropriate community projects to support with Nimbin Advisory Group resources and supporting the implementation of those projects.
• Any other matters as requested and considered appropriate.
