Walsh Bridge Works - 4 & 5 May 2023

Council wishes to advise that urgent maintenance works to Walsh Bridge are scheduled to take place on Thursday, 4 May and Friday, 5 May 2023, subject to contractor availability and fine weather conditions.

What are the works?

The works will comprise excavating, repairing and reinstatement behind the bridge abutment to stabilise the western approach.

These emergency works are required to prevent further deterioration of the bridge and increase longevity until the bridge can be replaced.

Council will continue to monitor the bridge condition and undertake maintenance works as required until permanent works are completed under the Fixing Country Bridges Program.

What are the traffic adjustments?

For the safety of motorists and due to the nature of the works, Rosehill Road will be closed between Rock Valley Road and Kyogle Road whilst the works take place. We ask that drivers use the detour that is signposted and in place via Nimbin Road over this period.

Traffic control will be in place at the road closure check points to assist motorists. Access will be maintained both sides of Walsh Bridge for residents. Please review the road closure locations to determine the most appropriate access for your property. Due to the nature of the works, access through the work site is not possible.

We aim to have the road reopened Friday afternoon once the essential works are complete.

What do I need to do?

Please commute through the detour at low speed, obey adjusted speed limits and directions from any traffic controllers, and drive carefully. Please also adhere to all road closed signs.

Who should I contact with questions/ concerns?

If you have any concerns, please phone Council’s Coordinator Roads Capital, Jeremy Sleigh on (02) 6625 0500 (24-hour service) or email council@lismore.nsw.gov.au and include the title ‘Walsh Bridge Replacement – Rosehill Road, Tuncester’.

We apologise in advance for disruptions you may experience while we carry out these essential works. We would appreciate your cooperation with all traffic control and workplace protection measures to help keep everyone safe.
