The 2022 floods had, and continue to have, a significant impact on our community. Following the Resilient Homes Program buybacks in flood-affected areas, Lismore City Council, together with the NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA), is now looking at how this land can be used to benefit Lismore's future.

Funded by RA, we’re undertaking precinct planning to explore and shape the future use of buyback land across Lismore. Precinct plans will be prepared for four areas: Lismore City Centre, East Lismore, South Lismore and North Lismore.

We know this project has been a long time coming. We will build on consultation and visioning work already undertaken with the community since 2022. We are working with a specialist consultant team to ensure the precinct plans are thorough, practical and guided by what you value most.

You will be invited to share ideas, raise concerns and help shape the plans. It is important to note that residential uses will not be allowed.

How to get involved

Engagement begins in mid-2026 and there will be plenty of ways to have your say once it gets underway. More information around opportunities to participate in upcoming engagement activities will be announced shortly.
