Lismore Laneways Project – Final Design Elements

The final concept design includes the creation of four unique precincts within the Lismore Laneways.

Precinct 1: The Gateway
This will include two ‘gateway’ artworks inviting people to enter the laneways, 'creative wayfinding' pavement artworks, new seating on Magellan Street and Carrington Street, activation pods (old phone booths with book swaps etc) and new planters/greenery.

Precinct 2: Eggins Lane
This will include a catenary system (overhead wires) for lighting and hanging artworks. There will also be an urban basketball court, greenery and automatic boom gate or bollards to close the laneway for special events.

Precinct 3: Carrington Street
This will include improved seating and greenery, and the ‘shade sail’ that is suspended over the street will be refurbished with new artwork.

Precinct 4: Embassy Arcade
This area will include new seating, greenery and creative wayfinding, and act as an entry point from Keen Street into the laneways precinct. There will also be an interactive artwork, designed by the Back Alley Gallery, to encourage participation by pedestrians walking through the laneways.
