COMPLETED WORKS

Nimbin Road
Works are now completed on the first stretch of Nimbin Road. The site is located approximately one kilometre from the Nimbin township heading towards Lismore and opened to the community on December 14, 2023. An official opening ceremony was held on Thursday, 21 December with local politicians and members of the local media attending to celebrate with Lismore City Council and Civil Mining and Construction (CMC) staff. This project was one of two significant landslips on this essential route that isolated the village in the immediate aftermath of the disaster. CMC were engaged to carry out the work to the significantly damaged roadway, which demanded thorough geotechnical assessments and a precisely engineered solution. The contractors also carried out pavement reconstruction, road reinstatement, installation of guardrail barriers, signage, guideposts, and line marking. These works were designed to stabilise the embankment with minimal environmental impact while allowing the road to be re-established to full width. The project took about nine months to complete and was delivered on time and on budget. LCC and CMC would like to thank the community for their patience during the works period and the positive feedback received since opening the road.

Carabeen Place
The works at Carabeen Place are now completed with the road reopening during December 2023. Thank you to the residents for your patience during the works period.

CURRENT WORKS

Quilty Road
Following the February 2022 natural disaster, Quilty Road suffered extensive damage. Funding has now been secured to repair pavement damage and replace a culvert to return the road to pre-existing conditions. The works zone is located approximately 2.5kms South of the Cawongla/Quilty Road intersection, between approximately 368 and 371 Quilty Road. Motorists will be notified of changes via roadside signage and updated through www.livetraffic.com. Emergency services vehicles will be accommodated. Please adhere to all road closed signs and directions from any traffic controllers.
