This consultation has now concluded. Thank you for your feedback.

The Lismore Junior Swans AFL Club has received funding to install a new picket fence surrounding Mortimer Oval and Council is seeking community feedback on the proposal.

The project is funded through a $115,000 grant from the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund. The work falls under permissible development in the new Lismore Park Plan of Management 2020 and work is planned to begin before Christmas 2020.

The project includes installation of a white picket fence around Mortimer Oval, an extension to the oval of up to 10 metres towards the Lismore Shopping Square and the addition of a low mound behind the southern goalposts to act as a small spectator vantage point.

The improvements aim to beauty the precinct and enhance the area for spectators, improve safety for players and bring the field size up to AFL standards.

The approximate fencing location and field extension can be seen in the aerial photograph above while an example of the style of fencing can be seen in the photo below.

Council is seeking community feedback about this project before any work begins. Please provide your comments via the online form below by close of business on 8 September 2020.

For further information or enquiries, please phone Lismore City Council's Open Space Assets Coordinator Martin Soutar on 1300 87 83 87.
