Temporary Loss of Water - April 2024

As part of the Pipeline Replacement Project, the newly installed water main is now ready for commissioning. This will result in a short water supply interruption, for residents upstream of Sheathers Bridge.

Water supply interruption details

During this time, individual sections of the existing water pipeline will be decommissioned with the new pipeline commissioned in stages. When the works are finished you may experience air trapped in your internal plumbing system (water may appear milky in colour). If this occurs the air can be released by turning on your outside hose tap for several minutes.

There are no road closures associated with these works, however traffic lights will continue to operate as normal.

Once commissioning is completed, this will bring an end to the project. The contractors will be demobilizing from site over the coming weeks. Further updates on the completion of the project will be shared at a later date.

What are the works?

Removal and relaying of pipe under Gungas Road as part of the Pipeline Replacement Project.

The purpose of this project is to provide a permanent water supply pipeline. Immediate works were put in place as a temporary measure to quicken constructability and secure water supply post 2022 flood event. The permanent solution, being a 200mm diameter pipe to ensure hydraulic capacity is maintained.

This project is supported through Commonwealth Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
