About the summit:

Over the last few years, the Northern Rivers region has been devastated by the impacts of floods, fires, drought and COVID-19. As a result, young people have experienced disruption to school and education, employment, housing, mental health challenges, and much more. The recently formed North Coast Youth Action group (NCYA), supported by the Office for Regional Youth, have created a framework for the North Coast Youth Leadership Summit, an event that brings together passionate young people aged 12-24 from across the region.

The event will be hosted and facilitated by local young people. Facilitators will support participants in identifying unique challenges, aspirations and opportunities for young people living from Tweed Heads to Coffs Harbour. The summit will address three key themes identified by young people, including social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and active youth citizenship. In addition, guest speakers will present case studies and opportunities to inspire local young people to take action in their communities.

The summit will help the North Coast Youth Action and Office for Regional Youth identify recommendations and potential pathways to improve young people’s meaningful engagement in promoting local initiatives.

Limited places are available. Morning tea and lunch provided. Office for Regional Youth can arrange transport upon request. For more information, please get in touch with Kasey Shannon or Gemma Moore on 6640 3800.
