Project Update - December, 2023: Works Commencing January 2024

Council wishes to advise that the commencement of roadworks and conversion to one-way traffic on O’Flynn Street are scheduled to start on Monday, 8 January 2024 subject to fine weather conditions.

What are the works?

The works will be conducted along a 0.5km section of O’Flynn Street, between High Street and New Ballina Road. The one-way street conversion will be implemented between Beardow Street south to approximately 57 O’Flynn Street.

The roadworks will fix the deteriorating road formation, installation of kerb and gutter, to provide for parking bays, on road pedestrian walkway and one-way signage will be installed. The works require digging out the old road foundation and adding and compacting new road base material on top before resealing it. The road surface may receive a final wearing seal several months after the initial seal has cured.

What are the traffic adjustments?

The one-way traffic conversion will be implemented from the commencement of works, with local access only during work hours between 7am and 4pm weekdays although there may be some weekend work. See aerial map on the attached page.

What do I need to do?

Please commute through the job site/s at low speed, obey traffic control instructions and drive carefully. We would appreciate your cooperation with all traffic control and workplace protection measures to help keep everyone safe.
