Will Emergency Service vehicles be affected?

No, Emergency vehicles travelling with audible sirens or flashing lights are responding to urgent situations and aren't required to follow road rules, as long as it's safe for them to do so.

How will access from Ballina Road be affected?

The above plan shows the direction of traffic. The one-way directional change commences part way into O'Flynn Street (after the apartments). This will allow motorists time to understand the change in road conditions. The one-way direction will be clearly signed for motorists as shown on the plan.

Why is O'Flynn Street being changed to one-way?

Further details are available in the Community Updates tab on the decision and benefits of this proposal.

    In short,

    1. Reduced through traffic flows in O’Flynn Street and primarily residents only traffic.
    2. Options for traffic calming to discourage through traffic and speeding vehicles resulting in safer on road pedestrian walking zones.
    3. Provision of formal on street parking areas.
    4. Reduced road width means a cheaper construction and maintenance costs.
    5. Installation of kerb and gutter in several sections and minor drainage improvements.
    6. Maintenance to roadside drainage as needed.

When will O'Flynn Street be changed to one-way?

Design plans are currently in progress with plans for construction of the works currently planned for September and October 2023

A notification will be sent from Council prior to start of construction with details on driveway accesses and if any interruption to services.

Further details of this proposal are available in the Community Updates tab. Ongoing project updates will be shared to this tab also.
