Mill Street , The Channon - request for One Way Street
A request has been received for the introduction of a One Way Only (northbound) for Mill Street, The Channon, between the Terania Street intersection and The Channon Store.
A review has been undertaken of the layout with respect to safety, road width and sight distances. The available road no longer meets the necessary width for a two-way road. The matter has been discussed at the Traffic Advisory Committee with a recommendation for a permanent change to Mill Street to One Way in a Northbound Direction.
Next steps
The proposal will be put forward at Council’s ordinary June 14th meeting.
Community consultation for this proposal included a mail out to the immediate catchment, signage at Mill Street, online articles, and engagement with local businesses. The community was encouraged to submit their feedback before the June 10 deadline.
