Good Bush Neighbours is a Biodiversity Management Strategy (BMS) initiative to engage with residents about urban bushland and looking after wildlife.

The development of Good Bush Neighbours is an action outlined in Council's BMS 2015-2035. It will involve citizen science and training opportunities around managing wildlife.

The program aims to:

  • Raise community awareness of the value of urban bushland.
  • Reduce the impacts of 'garden dumping' and 'garden escapees' becoming environmental weeds.
  • Raise community awareness of the impacts of roaming pets preying upon wildlife.
  • Raise community awareness and support community groups like Landcare, undertaking work which improves urban bushland management and condition.

Council launched Good Bush Neighbours at a fun family event (Meet Your Wild Neighbours) in Tucki Tucki Recreational Park on Saturday, 1 June 2019.
