The emergency storage tanks were laid today, with the assistance of a 250tonne crane. The 2.6m diameter pipes will accommodate for any breakdowns and when maintenance is carried out on the pump.

Backfilling operations around these tanks and final concrete segments of the pump station are next to bring the station back to finished surface levels.

• The rising main is being installed on scheduled, with 1.3km (a third) due to be installed by the end of the year.
• Completion of the wet well segments is expected to be completed early next year.
• The odour control unit with active carbon filters has been ordered, ready for installation as the project comes to completion.
