Have your say on the inclusion of additional permitted uses in South Lismore.
On 13 May 2025, Lismore City Council (Council) resolved to support a Planning Proposal to amend Lismore Local Environmental Plan 2012 (LEP) to enable additional permitted land uses on selected E4 General Industrial zoned land in South Lismore.
The objective of the Proposal is to provide greater flexibility for land use in and around the South Lismore rail corridor. By enabling a broader range of commercial and cultural activities, the proposal aims to enhance the area’s vibrancy, support the revitalisation of the Lismore urban centre, and contribute to the growth of the local visitor economy.
On 23 June 2025, the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment issued a Gateway Determination, allowing the Proposal to proceed subject to standard conditions. Delegation for the finalisation of the LEP amendment has been granted to Council by the NSW Minister for Planning.
Proposed Amendments
The proposed amendments will enable 'community facilities', 'entertainment facilities', 'information and education facilities' and 'retail premises' on specified parcels of E4 General Industrial zoned land in South Lismore as permissible with consent.
