Consultation has concluded

Council is seeking community feedback on proposed changes to the current Concealed Water Leaks Policy.

The Concealed Water Leaks Policy was adopted by Council in 2021. In 2025, Council was presented with several proposed changes to help streamline the current process.

A summary of the proposed changes includes:

  1. Replace the word ‘concealed’ with ‘undetected’ to offer greater scope for the claim.
  2. Remove the sentence “Where there is visible evidence of soaking or dampness (which may include but not limited to damp walls, lush grass, boggy ground or damp soil)” as the definition does not provide enough clarity.
  3. Change the recipient of the application and evidence from the General Manager to Lismore City Council.
  4. Remove the Policy Variations section to provide a clearer and more effective way to determine outcomes.

The proposed Undetected Water Leaks Policy can be referenced here.

Submissions close 4.00pm on Thursday, 26 March 2026.
