Council has completed assessments and preliminary works on a number of rural roads, identified below.

In order to complete the mentioned upgrades, funding must be sought. Council is committed to applying for applicable grants for State and Federal funding to assist with the construction costs of the identified roads. At present these road upgrades are eligible under the ‘Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (SLRIP)’ grant.

We ask for assistance from the community to complete a 5 - 10 minute survey, with the feedback providing essential information to support the grant applications.

Tregeagle Road

Council has identified the section of Tregeagle Road from 538 to 640 Tregeagle Road in need of an upgrade. The road is a sub-arterial road in Councils’ road hierarchy network and provides a vital south-eastern connector route for the Shire. Council is committed to applying for applicable grants for State and Federal funding to assist with the construction costs for this project. At present the road upgrade is eligible under the ‘Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (SLRIP)’ grant.

Caniaba Road

Council has identified the section of Caniaba Road, 800m East of the Primary School to 800m West, in need of an upgrade. The road is a collector road in Councils’ Road hierarchy network and provides connectivity between the Bruxner Highway and City of Lismore to the Village of Caniaba. Council is committed to applying for applicable grants for State and Federal funding to assist with the construction costs for this project. At present the road upgrade is eligible under the ‘Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (SLRIP)’ grant.

To ensure your concerns are raised and recorded for assessment, please assist by completing a Customer request via the link below:

Requests & Problems - Road Maintenance

This link is always available on the Lismore City Council website under 'Requests & Problems' on the main page. Alternately, you can call (02) 6625 0500 Monday - Friday, 8.30am-4.30pm to discuss and lodge your concerns with one of our Customer Contact officers.

Assessments will then be completed based on your feedback, and a repair/replacement scheduled pending a number of factors such as available funding, safety, road usage and scheduled maintenance. In some cases, a road may receive temporary repairs until a permanent solution can be designed, and applicable funding be made available.

For reference, complete restoration/replacement of 1km of road can cost upwards of ~$1.3millon.
