Lismore City Council is updating the Sport and Recreation Plan to shape the future of sport in our community. This is your chance to help create vibrant opportunities and inclusive programs for everyone to enjoy. Let's make Lismore the ultimate hub for sport and recreation!
What is the Sport and Recreation Plan?
The Sport and Recreation Plan is a roadmap for improving sport and recreation opportunities in Lismore. It ensures the community’s needs are met by guiding decisions on facilities, programs and services. The plan aims to make sport and recreation accessible and inclusive for everyone, support active and healthy lifestyles, bring economic benefits through events and tourism and plan for sustainable, long-term growth.
Why do we need a Sport and Recreation Plan?
Having a Sport and Recreation Plan keeps things on track. It gives clear direction, helps make good decisions and ensures everyone has access to sport and recreation. It boosts health, brings the community together, supports local jobs and attracts funding for new opportunities. Plus, it keeps us focused on what matters most to the community.
What’s Happening Now?
The current Sport and Recreation Plan (2020-2024) has delivered significant achievements, from improved facilities and enhanced programs to greater community participation. Now, it’s time to look ahead. The updated 2025-2030 plan will:
Build on what we’ve achieved.
Tackle new challenges and seize opportunities.
Ensure inclusivity and accessibility for everyone.
Create sustainable, vibrant sporting and recreational opportunities for the future.
How Can You Get Involved?
We want to hear from the local community, clubs, and stakeholders to ensure this plan reflects your needs and aspirations. Here's how you can get involved:
Survey for Local Sporting Clubs
Share your feedback on how Council can better support your club and sport.
Draft Plan Consultation
Once the draft plan is ready, we’ll invite feedback from the community to refine and finalise the vision.
