Consultation has concluded

The Tucki-Tucki Creek Reserve Community Survey Summary Report has now been finalised.

Council received a significant response, with 188 community users of the reserve completing the survey and 143 ‘pins’ submitted to the placemaking map.

During the consultation period, Council also held a Public Forum at the reserve where approximately 50 community members attended.

Many reserve users highlighted the walking track and surrounding natural vegetation as the things they most value, with walking or running, relaxing, socialising, or walking the dog among the most popular activities.

The Environmental Strategies team at Council will now use this report to ensure that feedback is included in future planning for the Reserve.

The Environmental Strategies team at Lismore City Council would like to hear from the different users of the Tucki-Tucki Creek Reserve on what they value most about the area. Council would like to ensure that the management of the reserve continues to take into account the needs of different user groups and reflects their values.

Tucki-Tucki Creek Reserve is a public reserve centred on the Upper Tucki Tucki Creek. The headwaters of this local watercourse begin in South-East Goonellabah and stretch approximately 30km through urban, wooded and open country to the Tuckean Swamp where it enters the Richmond River. The Tucki-Tucki Creek Reserve area includes the adjoining Birdwing Butterfly Gully, Holmes Park, Ravenswood Drive Park and areas of Hepburn Park.

Council’s broader management aims of the reserve are to provide spaces for recreational experiences that are beneficial to the community while simultaneously building community appreciation for natural systems and enhancing the natural environment through habitat restoration.

Past areas of restoration have centred largely around the Bird-Wing Butterfly Park, but over the decades, have expanded north and south along the creek line. In addition to the work undertaken by Council, many thousands of volunteer hours by the Goonellabah Tucki Landcare group have contributed greatly to the preservation of the area.

Your contribution to this survey will assist the Environmental Strategies Team to determine the appropriate future planning activities within and surrounding areas of the reserve related to habitat restoration and biodiversity.

As part of the consultation, a Public Forum will be held on Saturday July 23, 11am - 2pm within Tucki-Tucki Creek Reserve. Please join us in the Pine Tree area (The closest access is from Ravenswood Dr, Goonellabah. Coordinates for the area are -28.820516, 153.340028). Free coffee will be available. Council staff will be onsite to discuss matters of the Tucki Creek Reserve.
