Lismore City Council asked the community what does the 26 January mean to them and you responded. We received submissions from almost 500 people and the opinions about the appropriate date for Australia Day were diverse and reflected the complexity of the issue.

A report summarising the community's sentiments was tabled at the September Council meeting and Councillors resolved to write to the Prime Minister, Local members and relevant Federal and State Government Ministers and inform them of the results of the survey.
