We are asking that you please complete the survey below to help us understand your needs when using these amenities. You can also 'Ask US Anything' about accessible public toilets in the Question and Answer tab below.

We will use your feedback to make a decision on how to manage our accessible public toilets and will let you know the outcome.

The survey closes by Friday, 20 September 2019. You can remain anonymous if you wish to.

We want to ensure that everybody has the opportunity to provide feedback. If you or someone you know would like to talk to us in person, please phone our Contact Centre on 1300 87 83 87 and ask to speak with Catherine Rosenbaum. Is there provision for a driver to park if the toilet is urgently needed?

Denmatth asked over 4 years ago

Thanks for the question.  It is a difficult one to answer.

Some of the accessible toilets across the Local Government Area have an accessible parking bay nearby but not all of them.  This will be something we will look into improving.  Where a parking bay is reserved for use by people with disabilities, you must display your disability parking permit in the vehicle or you could be fined.  If it was an emergency, the back of the ticket advises how you can request a review with the NSW Revenue Office.

The difficultly is that anyone with a disability card can park in the accessible parking bay near the accessible toilet and not be using the facilities.  They could be using the parking bay for a while and legally entitled to do so.

So while Council does provide an accessible parking bay near some accessible toilets we can never guarantee it will be available when you need it.

If you don't have a disability parking permit then you would need to comply with parking provisions located near that particular toilet for public safety reasons.

I hope this answers your question.
