Buildings, Parks and Facilities - December 2022
Key Milestone: At Council’s ordinary meeting on 13th December Councillors resolved to appoint a managing contractor to undertake Community Recreation & Cultural Asset works of Council’s buildings. This is an important step in the restoration process with the intention of the managing contractor to undertake all works required for restoration across Council’s various buildings. The contractors invited to tender for these construction works were on the NSW Government prequalification scheme for General Construction works between $1 million and $9 million.
Council will work with the managing contractor in January and February to verify the scope for each of Council’s buildings and ensure approved CRCA funding is adequate to cover the cost of restoration works at each site.
Council’s restoration works on its buildings, parks and facilities will begin to cease as we approach Christmas holiday period with many of the engaged contractors taking a well-deserved break over the Christmas period.
Throughout December restoration works have continued on sites, including:
Albert Park Baseball – Top dressing of the baseball fields to return them to pre-disaster condition has been underway in December and restoration of the clubhouse and amenities has started.
Brunswick St Depot – Council’s depot has been operational from temporary offices at Brunswick St since the floods earlier this year. Permanent restoration works are underway on the offices at Brunswick St, with some areas of the depot now complete and staff returning to business as usual.
Clyde Campbell Carpark – Removal of the damaged surface behind Mary G’s has begun prior to Christmas.
Clyde Campbell Carpark Toilets – The toilets remain closed to the public whilst restoration works are being complete in conjunction with the Solar Carpark project. Temporary toilets remain available onsite.
Harold Fredricks Carpark – Replacement solar lights for this carpark arrived in early December and electrical contractor is engaged to complete installation prior to the Christmas break.
Lismore SES Headquarters – Replacement of the floor coverings at the SES headquarters has been complete.
Wade Park, Nesbitt Park & W-Tresise Railway Park - Restoration of the soft fall bark areas underneath playground equipment has been complete over the last few weeks. The aggregate and drainage underneath the soft fall have also been returned to Pre-Disaster condition allowing correct drainage of the soft fall areas.
