Parks and Facilities Update - January 2023

Restoration works on various flood effected sites have continued in January with Council’s existing contractors finalising Emergency and Immediate Restoration Works on sites wherever works were in progress prior to Christmas. Council is currently in the transition phase between Emergency and Immediate Restoration Works and Community Recreation & Cultural Asset Works. Public Works Advisory provided an extension to 31/1/23 to finalise any Emergency or Immediate Restoration works that were in progress on assets eligible under Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

As previously posted, Council at its ordinary meeting on 13th December resolved to appoint a managing contractor to undertake the Community Recreation & Cultural Asset works of Council’s buildings which means there is now a transition occurring between Council’s existing contractors and the new managing contractor to understand the scope complete thus far at buildings and the remaining work required to restore the buildings, parks, or facilities to their pre-disaster condition. This collaboration is ongoing as Council, Managing Contractor, and existing contractor work through each site to ensure a thorough understanding of each asset prior to finalisation of the handover.
