October 2023 Update

Parklets in new places

Lismore City Council’s Parklets have returned to the CBD in two new temporary sites, where they can be found for approximately 6 months from 27 October 2023.

The Parklets provide appealing and temporary spaces for pedestrians to sit and connect in Lismore, and will soon have shade sails installed. The two new Parklet spots are:

• 46 Magellan Street, hosted by the Lismore Regional Gallery Popup

• 44 Carrington Street, in proximity to food retailers and hosted by Lismore Central Shopping Centre.

We have relaunched the CBD parklet feedback survey so please let us know what you think. Click here to complete the survey.

Along with feedback from businesses and organisations in the vicinity, these locations have been chosen to foster connection between activation, retail and business spaces within the city centre, while minimising impact to loading bays, pedestrian egress, support good vehicle visibility, and not impacting any essential service infrastructure (hydrants etc).

For further information about Parklets and how local businesses and organisations can ‘host’ them, please see Guidelines under ‘P’ here www.lismore.nsw.gov.au/Council/About-Council/Policies-A-Z.

The Parklets were funded through a NSW Government grant to help make Lismore CBD more pedestrian-friendly during COVID recovery.

We are also looking at ways to activate, evaluate and demonstrate economic value of these multi-purpose spaces, as part of the Lismore Business Activation Plan. You can find out more about the new draft Business Activation Plan here. For more information please contact CBD Activation Officer Kathryn Gray, by emailing business@lismore.nsw.gov.au or phone
