How will I be notified about the works?

The initial notification of works was delivered to 200 letterboxes surrounding the five locations in January 2024. This notification, and future notifications will be available on this page under 'Related Information'.

Directly impacted residents and businesses in the works zones will receive a notification prior to work starting in their relevant location. This notification will feature detailed project information for that location. The project team will endeavour to deliver this notification 14 days prior to works starting.

Notifications will also be delivered to directly impacted residents and businesses if there is any interruption to property access, water disruptions or other works deemed to cause significant impact.

Project updates will be shared on this page through the Project Updates tab.

Will there be any disruption to water?

Water supply is expected to be maintained throughout the works, with minor outages expected at time of connection and commissioning. Notification will be delivered to affected residents and businesses in advance if water outage/disruption is expected. Additionally, there is no expected change to water quality throughout the works.

For any concerns, or to report unexpected water disruptions, please call 6625 0500 (24 hour service).

Why do water mains need to be replaced?

Water mains are monitored for damage and potential failures, such as a burst. These watermains are now reaching end of life, and are due for replacement to avoid any major disruptions to water supply.

Can I drive in and out of my property and street?

Yes, you will have access to your street throughout our works but we may need to block your driveway for a short time to access the water pipes underneath it. Where possible we will notify you in advance and work with you to minimise the inconvenience.

Will the driveway and footpath be fixed after construction?

Yes, if excavation of concrete or bitumen surfaces to replace a water main is required, it will be restored as close as possible to the condition prior to works commencing.

Bitumen will be used to temporarily patch the surfaces before being restored permanently.

If this is of concern to you, please call 6625 0500 to discuss the best way forward.

The road/footpath is sinking after the works, will this be fixed?

After the area has been temporarily repaired with bitumen, it can settle and sink. This occurs over time and particularly after rain.

If the temporary seal of bitumen on a road or footpath is causing a safety hazard, please report it by calling 6625 0500.

The tree has been removed, will it be replaced?

The aim is to keep all trees where they are, however it depends on the new water main’s location. If a tree/garden must be removed, replacement will be reviewed in accordance with the works program.

If this is of particular concern, please call 6625 0500.

The works have created a mess/damage in front of my business/residence. What is being done?

Any environmental risks such as those associated with soil erosion, runoff and sedimentation, air quality, heritage values, and unexpected contaminated land, will be managed through the project in line with environmental safeguards.

The project team and contractors will endeavour to minimise all disruptions from potential project impacts. Additionally, temporary measures such as bitumen may be put in place while the area is restored as close as possible to the condition prior to works commencing.

Please call 6625 0500 if you have any concerns.
