*** This project is now complete. Eggins Lane is open to traffic and all works are finished. A photo of the finished lane can be found under photos and maps****

Lismore City Council is undertaking roadworks in Eggins Lane to improve the laneway for local businesses, motorists and pedestrians visiting the laneways precinct.

***Regular updates on progress are posted under the Community Updates tab below.

These roadworks involve reconstructing the entire length of Eggins Lane that runs parallel with Keen Street south from Larkin Lane.

The project will address long-standing drainage issues in Eggins Lane as well as improve the poor condition of the road surface. Work will include:

  • Removing old drainage infrastructure such as piping, inlet pits, kerb and gutter, and driveway gutter bridges.
  • Installing new underground roof-water connections, stormwater piping and inlet pits.
  • Reconstructing the road surface and sealing.

This project is funded by the Federal Government and has been brought forward to ensure these essential roadworks are completed prior to the commencement of the Lismore Laneways Project.

The Lismore Laneways Project includes beautification, art installations and amenity improvements such as new lighting and greenery for the inner-city laneways. Council decided to undertake the Eggins Lane roadworks prior to these improvements being implemented so that the entire precinct benefits from both projects and disruption to businesses is limited.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please ask our staff via the Q&A below or phone Project Manager Joe Lokic from BASEC Engineering on mobile number 0436 660 035.

This project is proudly funded by the Australian Government through its Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

Major earthworks in Eggins Lane that were scheduled to commence on 17 February have been postponed for about one week due to an increased scope of works.

As a result, Council is required to reissue the tender to meet local government tender guidelines.

This delay is unfortunate but coincides with heavy rain forecast for next week. We need fine weather for these major earthworks to begin and we are hoping for blue skies in late February so we can commence construction in earnest.
