Community Update - Mountain Top Road - 16 July

Lismore City Council would like to advise residents that Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has now approved funding to upgrade the sealed section of Mountain Top Road between Lodge Road and RH Smith Road.

Work will include drainage work, improvements to the structure of the road and re-sealing of the road surface. Work is scheduled to commence in September/October 2021. General road maintenance will continue in the interim period, to try and minimise the number of pot holes. We are still in the planning phase for this work. This means that we do not yet have definite dates for commencement.

Mountain Top Road may need to be closed during these works and this would mean a 30 minute detour. Our staff are currently considering options to complete this work with minimum disruption to the community. We intend to seek feedback from the community to understand the best approach regarding a potential road closure. A letter will be sent to affected residents and the broader community in this area to ask for feedback on a variety of options before a decision is made. We will then notify the community of our decision regarding road closure, via this page and other communication channels.
