Mountain Top Road Final Update - 14 February 2022
Last Thursday the majority of works on Mountain Top Road were completed. Last year, Transport for NSW approved funding to remediate flood damaged pavement on a sealed section of Mountain Top Road between Lodge Road and RH Smith Road. Although Council was hoping to stretch the budget for the full road, due to budgetary constraints the full road was not able to be completed. Patching for the rest of the road will continue this week.
The works completed include:
- Replacing 12 pipe drainage crossings
- Constructing headwall and pit structures on 18 culvert outlet and inlets
- Cleaning and reforming table drains to mitigate future damage
- Installing rock checks to reduce velocity of stormwater in table drains
- Reconstruction of failed embankment using 800 tonne of rock
- Replacement of failed subgrade with geofabric wrapped rock and subsoil drainage
- Top up road surface with additional gravel where required to correct shape
- Stabilise overlayed material and existing pavement with lime
- Spray seal road surface
- Further minor surface repairs to remaining sealed section are scheduled for next week under localised traffic control
We would like to sincerely thank the community for their patience and understanding during this project.
