Mountain Top Road, Update & Temporary Road Closure – Commencing 12 January 2022

Firstly, we would like to thank all residents and motorists for their patience whilst we complete the work on Mountain Top Road. We acknowledge that things are taking longer than originally expected and that residents are significantly inconvenienced by this work.

So far, work has been undertaken to improve drainage on Mountain Top Road. The scope of works increased as failed pipes were unblocked and assessed. A landslip was also repaired using 800 ton of rock, to prevent further slipping and road damage.

Commencing 10 January, crews will spend time excavating what are referred to as ‘pavement failures’ and replacing these with rock and gravel. This work can be done under traffic light control, to allow the road to remain open for the 10 and 11 January.

On 12 January, we will need to revert back to full day time road closure, between 7.30 and 4pm. The work at this stage involves the importing of what’s called ‘gravel overlay’ and we have to close the road to undertake this work safely.

On 20 January, stabilisation of the pavement will commence. In late January, the road will be sealed and it is hoped that all work will be completed by Friday 28 January.

On weekends, the road will be open, although there may be periods of traffic light control as the overlaid gravel will require water and rolling to maintain the surface prior to sealing. The lights are on a sensor so delays should be minimised.

In the interim period prior to sealing, the works will be exposed to possible damage from heavy wet weather. This may cause delays to the program.
