Lismore, Nimbin Water and Sewage services affected by flood

Residents of Lismore and Nimbin are asked to conserve water and reduce their use of sewage systems.

The current flooding in Lismore and Nimbin, and associated power outages, have affected Council’s water supply and sewage systems.

Residents are asked to conserve water as much as possible as we are currently unable to replenish water reservoirs. Nimbin has approx. 24hours of water supply left based on normal usage rates and residents are asked to conserve water. The Perradenya Estate has a 10-day supply.

Similarly, our sewage treatment plants at South Lismore and East Lismore are not fully operational and have been severely affected by the current events. The East Lismore STP is completely inundated and repairs cannot be undertaken until floodwaters recede. The South Lismore STP is not receiving sewage as power outages mean that sewer pump stations are not operating.

The patience and cooperation of residents is appreciated as we work through these challenges.
