Due to the nature and sheer scale of these floods, it is very hard to predict where deceased animals will be found, some can be washed hundreds of kilometres away.
Deceased livestock do pose a human health risk, but by reporting them immediately, work will be done to remove them as quickly as possible and reduce the risk of disease and contamination.
For landholders needing animal assessment and disposal, or members of the public who encounter a deceased animal can report it to the Agriculture and Animal Services hotline on 1800 814 647.
