UPGRADES TO THE GOONELLABAH SKATEPARK ARE NOW COMPLETE!
The fences are down and the upgrades to the Goonellabah Skatepark are now complete! Finished ahead of schedule, the park is now open and ready to roll.
Designed by skatepark specialists
Trinity Skateparks with input from local enthusiasts, the new features include:
New ramps
Manual pad
Loading dock and hydrant
Flat rail
Slappy kerb
In addition to the new features, the upgrade includes drainage improvements, floor repairs and fresh paint to ensure a smoother ride and enhance the park's appeal.
FREE school holiday skate workshops will be held 9 - 17 July during the school holidays for young people aged 5 - 14.
Coaching from Truckstop Sk8, will all necessary equipment provided.

An official opening will take place in the coming weeks, but for those eager to test out the new features, the park is now open and ready to go.
These upgrades were made possible thanks to funding from the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities program.
A Masterplan is being developed based on the feedback given during November 2023 consultation activities.
Stage 1 -
- Drainage and landscaping improvements: Completed
- Installation of new obstacles
- Maintenance of bowl and some flat surfaces (includes honing and resealing)
- Painting refresh of vertical surfaces
Further details regarding the commencement of construction will be shared via Lismore City Council channels.
Future Stages - Pending further funding
The following elements were identified as important by the community, and have been considered inline with future upgrades.
- CCTV and Lighting
- Bins
- Picnic tables
- Additional seating
- Additional bubblers
- Upgraded wayfinding signage
- Toilets
- Maintenance (ongoing)

Display set up near Coles, have your say on the design and upgrades.
Skate and Say - Saturday 18 November at Goonellabah Skatepark, 3 - 6pm
Includes a *beginners coaching session, snow cones and more. Come for a skate and let us know what you think about the upgrades and share your ideas.
*Beginners coaching session - Up to 10 people, for the first 10 attendees to register on the day. Attendees must have their own covered shoes, helmet and skateboard. Coaching session will be held between 4pm-5pm, attendees must be signed up prior to 4pm. Sign up will be available at the onsite Engagement display at the seated area, next to the carpark.
The Goonellabah Skatepark was built in 2009 and is in need of some upgrades to improve the standard of the facility.
The intent is to provide:
- Additional obstacles to open the flow of the less utilised sections of the skatepark.
- Obstacles better suited for less experienced users.
- Resurfacing components which have deteriorated over the years.
- Line of sight improvements for safety and security
- Drainage, lighting and seating improvements
These are the first actions as part of a greater Goonellabah Youth Plaza Masterplan. Future improvements such as additional shade, bubblers, further improved security measures and amenities are being considered based on available funding and resources. The current engagement will focus on the above actions only. Please submit all feedback via the feedback form to support future actions.
