Join us for High Schoolers Haven - a series of fun, safe and accessible events.

High Schoolers Haven is a pop-up event, where teens can learn new skills, connect with others, share their thoughts and have fun in a safe environment. Best part? It's FREE!

The pilot series was hosted at GSAC, running from 4-7pm, the first Friday of the month.

The last event of the series on Friday November 1, welcomed 80+ attendees.

With the warmer weather, the event took over Goonellabah Skatepark.

BACKGROUND

High Schoolers Haven was developed by a group of ABC Takeover Lismore winners during the leadership summit week in May 2024. Supported by funding from Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal, the event is now ready to launch.

It's a pop-up event framework which provides a fun, safe and accessible environment to support young people. Where they can learn skills, connect and provide feedback. Engaging with organisations and others through these events to promote outcomes for Lismore.

High Schoolers Haven will undergo a pilot period with events being held on 5 July, 2 August, 6 September, 4 October and 1 November in 2024. Data from these events such as attendee numbers, cost, community support and feedback from attendees will be used to determine the sustainability of the event and further funding sources.

Lismore City Council in conjunction with Office for Regional Youth and Richmond Police District (Youth Team) have been working behind the scenes since November 2023 to develop sustainable initiatives for young people's voices to be heard. With these initiatives aiming to build community collaboration and actions to support young people. Through the newly established Lismore Youth Network, partnering with other local organisations and community members to support this event and others.

If you are an organisation, individual or group who would like to be involved in the events - please email council@lismore.nsw.gov.au. Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are being reviewed. Your assistance is greatly appreciated, and will contribute to the continuation of these events.
