Onsite consultations with the Project Manager and Community Engagement team on Mondays at 3pm and Wednesdays at 11am, continue. Speaking with businesses and pedestrians to answer any questions and listen to feedback.
Further fencing will be erected around the works zone starting Monday 15th August. On the fencing will be core flute ‘Open For Business’ signage and ‘Open For Business’ (with a map image of how to access Eggins Lane) signage for those shops offering back alley access.
We understand for those businesses accessible via Eggins Lane during this time there is limited access for vehicles. Please see details of the traffic plan below. Signage detailing the detours will be erected to manage traffic.
There have been some changes to shopfront closures for businesses following feedback received. Please continue to support and reach out direct to check with your local businesses on any differences to their trading.
- The road closure will be in place Mon – Friday, 24 hours and progressively move down the works zone. This is to allow for heavy machinery to complete works, which causes a safety concern for motorists and pedestrians within the immediate work zone areas. Additionally, the Project Team have requested the 24hr closure due to narrowed site access around traffic blisters and to improve work efficiencies. This will allow the overall project duration to be reduced and consequently reduce disruptions in the long run.
- The U-turn bay at the current location will be removed from Monday 15th. There have been instances of motorists parking in the U-turn bay, disregarding detour signage and notices. The management of these instances will be ongoing however the Project Team are considering alternative deterrents. Due to the progression of works zone down the street, the U-turn bay will need to be removed and re-established further down where it will progressively move as the works continue.
In brighter news, the first section has been reopened to the public with the fullwidth footpath to be completed early next week. Concrete pours have been ongoing since Thursday last week, and will continue throughout the remainder of this week.
Again, we would like to acknowledge the businesses in this section, and appreciate your ongoing patience as these works were carried out.
Shall you have questions, the Q+A tab of this page can be utilised. Otherwise we look forward to seeing you in Keen Street on Mondays and Wednesdays.
This project has been completed. Minor additions will be completed, before ongoing maintenance.
