Local stories and sounds invited for the Lismore Laneways Listening Booth

Local storytellers, artists, musicians, community and business representatives – you’re invited to share ideas for great audio content to be featured within the new Lismore Laneways Listening Booth.

Background

The Listening Booth is an element of the 2021 Lismore Laneways Project, which was designed to help reinvigorate Lismore CBD's inner-city laneways precinct and attract more visitors. This Lismore City Council project was funded through a $510,000 grant, as part of a $1.5 million grant from the NSW Government for the ongoing revitalisation of the Lismore CBD.

You can find out more about the Lismore Laneways Project here.

About the Program

Appearing like a funky vintage phone booth, the Listening Booth is a bespoke 'activation pod' where you can hear local stories and sounds.

Launched in June 2023, you can find the Listening Booth along with a Lismore Laneways Book Exchange booth on Carrington Street in Lismore's renowned laneways.

The Listening Booth will bring together diverse voices of our city and rhythms of our community. As this project develops, you will discover a shifting symphony of Lismore life for your listening delight: local musicians playing heartfelt tunes, our stories and histories, home-grown ideas and recipes to savour, artists talking about their newest creations, and more.

Visitors can simply press the buttons in the Listening Booth to hear short excerpts of current audio content, and scan the QR code to listen and experience more online. You can check out introductory audio, video and information at visitlismore.com.au/listening-booth
