Project Update - May 2024

Nimbin Rainbow Road Walking Track
May 2024 Update

Lismore City Council is moving ahead with the project despite recent wet weather causing delays to construction by about 3-4 weeks.

A contractor has now been appointed to manage vegetation along the track. Small design changes have been finalised such as the addition of a new ramp linking the Nimbin Recreation Precinct to improve accessibility to the track.

Local artists are also progressing beautifully with the construction of the Kombi Konvoy, a series of unique seating designs for placement along the track. Decisions have also been made on furniture, including bespoke sandstone seating and special features to further enhance the beauty, interest and user experience along the trail.

Wheelchair accessible carparks have also now been identified for placement and wayfinding signage designs are nearing completion.

Council will post regular updates as the project progresses. To stay up to date on the project, access design plans, explore frequently asked questions, or to find out more, please visit yoursay.lismore.gov.au and visit the Nimbin Rainbow Road Walking Track page.

Lismore City Council wishes to thank the Nimbin Community, Community Centre, Nimbin Chamber of Commerce and private landowners for making this project possible and for their continued support throughout construction. The project is fully funded under the NSW and Federal Government Bushfire Local Economies Fund.
