Commencement of Works

Council wishes to advise that the upgrade to the existing roundabout and ancillary safety works at the intersection of Rous Road and Oliver Avenue are set to begin week commencing Monday, 6 January 2025 with works continuing for approximately eight (8) weeks, subject to fine weather conditions.

Funding for this project has been awarded by Transport for NSW under the Australian Government Black Spot Program.

What are the works?

Works will initially involve the upgrade of existing drainage infrastructure and widening of the road pavement directly to the north of the current roundabout’s location. Once these initial works are complete, works will be able to begin on construction of the new, larger concrete and asphalt roundabout. The new roundabout will comprise of a 6m wide travel lane and improved access from both Jubilee Avenue and Caroona Marima Care Facility.

What are the traffic adjustments?

Temporary traffic control measures will be in place for the duration of the works including stop/slow and reduced speed limits. Commuter delays are to be expected so please allow additional time when travelling through the site or use an alternate route if possible. Work hours will mostly be between 7 am and 4 pm weekdays although there may be some weekend work if required.

Commencing Monday 13 January, Jubilee Avenue will be closed to through traffic at the roundabout for the remainder of the works. A temporary detour will be in place via Phillip Street, McDermott Avenue and Oliver Avenue as per below image.

Please commute through the job site/s at low speed, obey traffic control instructions and drive carefully. We would appreciate your cooperation with all traffic control and workplace protection measures to help keep everyone safe.
