Community Update: 2 August
Works are now completed on Uralba Street road pavement rehabilitation, jointly funded by the NSW Fixing Local Roads and Roads to Recovery Programs.
Council undertook roadworks and road treatments to improve and rehabilitate the pavement quality on Uralba Street between Diadem and Brewster Streets.
We were also aiming to improve pavement life cycle and traffic ride, whilst conducting additional activities such as vegetation management and beautification activities.
In the interest of beneficial reuse and sustainability, Council undertook the cost-effective solution of recycling the historical road in the form of insitu stabilisation.
The aim of recycling the road was to provide a quality, long-life solution that maximises the re-use of existing materials.l This significantly lowers the carbon footprint when compared to other construction methodologies.
Furthermore, Council minimized the quantity of materials transported in and out of site by employing this technique.
Following completion of roadworks, Council rehabilitated adjoining damaged surfaces and reinstated concrete kerbing and kerb ramps, driveway lips and footpath/ nature strips
Lismore City Council Civic Services Department delivered the project within budget and delivered under the projected program time.
Productivity was enhanced due to fine weather and the ability to close this section of Uralba Street to daily traffic.
A photo of Uralba Street before and after can be viewed in the documents section of this project page.
