Council is undertaking roadworks on Wyrallah Road to improve road safety.

Where are the works?

The roadworks will be conducted at two different sites along Wyrallah Road (click here to see the map). Please note the works form part of a larger project area and will be completed in no particular order.

  • Site 25.1 – between Maxwell Lane and Broadwater Road.
  • Site 25.2 – between Swan Bay Road and Buckendoon School Lane.

What do the works involve?

The safety treatments will include some shoulder widening, surfacing, line marking, guide posting and vegetation removal to improve sight distances and allow for the wider road formation. We will also install some traffic safety and advisory signage.

The road reconstruction work requires digging out the old road foundation and adding and compacting new road base material on top before resealing it. This pavement overlay may change road levels by a maximum of 0.35m above or below the existing road centreline level. We will advertise this proposed change in road level by installing roadside signs and a notice in our Local Matters publication in accordance with the Roads Act, 1993.

Will flood levels change?

The proposed roadworks will align with Scenario 2 in the Flood Impact Statement Assessment (please click here to view) commissioned by Council which means there will be no change to existing flood level.

When are the works to start?

We are yet to schedule the roadworks that are programmed to be completed before June 2021. A commencement date will be finalised with the successful contractor once the tender has been awarded. We will notify you of the start date when confirmed. Traffic controls will be in place during the roadwork period, which will cause minor delays and disruptions.
