FAQs
What is a Planning Proposal?
A planning proposal is the document that sets out the justification and supporting information to allow changes to a Local Environmental Plan (LEP) to be made. LEPs provide the local statutory framework that guides development and land use decisions throughout NSW. They do this through zoning and development standards, which provide a framework for the way land can be developed and used. The local Council and the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure both assess a Planning Proposal to ensure the best outcome.
What changes are being proposed in this Planning Proposal (PP-2022-3907)?
The primary change proposed in this Planning Proposal is a change to the land use zone, from an agricultural zone to residential, mixed-use and industrial zones. The proposed zoning layout can be viewed within the Planning Propsoal documents downloadable from this webpage.
Has a Development Application (DA) been submitted or approved?
No. A DA cannot be submitted to Lismore City Council until the land has been rezoned. The Draft Development Control Plan (DCP) will guide and influence the design of all future DAs.
When will the land be rezoned?
The expected timeframe is for the land rezoning to be finalised by early 2025. This is subject to change.
