    Hi Tony,

Inclinometer data is currently being monitored to identify whether the changes in the profile have occurred, and identifying any ground movement and deformation.

Procurement of designers for the specific work needed is also being carried out.

Thanks for the question. From feedback received, we understand how important this road is to local residents and motorists. Council are working towards a solution that will allow us to build back better.

Important updates will be shared through a number of channels to ensure the community is informed. If you would like to receive these updates direct, please send your details to rebecca.sproule@lismore.nsw.gov.au

    Thanks,

    Rebecca

Ben Coyle asked over 2 years ago

    Hi Ben,

Geotechnical investigations have taken place on Koonorigan Road.  We are monitoring data from inclinometers installed through the slip area to determine degrees and plane of movement.  Procurement is underway to commission a design.  As the slip is complex, there are a limited numbers of geotechnical engineers capable of undertaking this work.

Pothole repairs are planned, and need to be scheduled to fit in with these existing works.

If you could please send through your best contact details to rebecca.sproule@lismore.nsw.gov.au, we will be happy to contact you direct and discuss this further.

    Thanks, and speak soon.

    asked over 2 years ago

    Hi Angela,

Geotechnical investigations have taken place on Koonorigan Rd.  Instruments have been installed to monitor progressive movement and to determine the depth of the failure plane. These will be monitored for a minimum of 3 further weeks before a geotechnical engineer is engaged to provide a final design to rectify the slip.  At this stage we have no plans to open the road temporarily to the public as the rainfall has been excessive and the slip is still progressing. This position will be reviewed over the coming weeks.

    Thank you,

    Rebecca

Lynda Bell asked over 2 years ago

    Hi Lynda,

Geotechnical investigation works have been undertaken on Tuntable Creek Road and monitoring devices installed to determine the behaviour of the slip and mechanism of failure.  Until the monitoring is complete (up to 1 month), the remediation works are unknown and therefore a timeline for repair may not be determined until materials and specialist contractors availability can be confirmed.

In the short term, options for a temporary bypass of the slip are being investigated.  However, these works are currently hampered by the wet weather.

    Thanks,

    Rebecca

Annabella Kelly asked over 2 years ago

    Hi Annabella,

Council has an extensive list of roads that have works planned. Due to ongoing rain, we are unfortunately seeing this schedule being pushed back.

The Channon and surrounds are high priority at this time, as you mentioned there are a number of recognised concerns to be addressed. Please keep an eye out on our Your Say page, where we will be posting updates.

    Thanks,

    Rebecca

    Hi Anna,

Unfortunately due to illness within the contracting team, there is a delay to the drilling works which were due to start today (16th of May).

We will know more tomorrow, and I will share updates on this article as news comes through.

    Thanks, Rebecca
