    COMPLETED WORKS

    Nimbin Road
Works are now completed on the first stretch of Nimbin Road. The site is located approximately one kilometre from the Nimbin township heading towards Lismore and opened to the community on December 14, 2023. An official opening ceremony was held on Thursday, 21 December with local politicians and members of the local media attending to celebrate with Lismore City Council and Civil Mining and Construction (CMC) staff. This project was one of two significant landslips on this essential route that isolated the village in the immediate aftermath of the disaster. CMC were engaged to carry out the work to the significantly damaged roadway, which demanded thorough geotechnical assessments and a precisely engineered solution. The contractors also carried out pavement reconstruction, road reinstatement, installation of guardrail barriers, signage, guideposts, and line marking. These works were designed to stabilise the embankment with minimal environmental impact while allowing the road to be re-established to full width. The project took about nine months to complete and was delivered on time and on budget. LCC and CMC would like to thank the community for their patience during the works period and the positive feedback received since opening the road.

    Carabeen Place
