The Pineapple Road Precinct is an area zoned for residential development and is located to the north-east of the city of Lismore. To service future development, Council is required to investigate, design and construct critical wastewater (sewer) infrastructure.

The project is being funded by Section 64 Contributions (developer contributions), and includes:

  • A new sewage pump station to be located immediately north of the urban precinct.
  • A pumped sewer pipeline connecting the new pump station to Council's existing gravity truck sewer main at Northcott Drive

Above ground, the completed sewage pumping station will look like a small grey structure, about the size of a house slab. All of the pumping happens underground, with a 5m deep wet well. The pump station will be equipped with activated carbon filters to drastically reduce any potential odour.

The community are encouraged to ask questions through the Q & A function on this page.

To service future development for the Pineapple Road precinct, Council is required to investigate, design, and construct critical wastewater (sewer) infrastructure. This infrastructure will ensure the movement of wastewater is safe and effective, catering for population growth and the expansion of the precinct.

The project is funded by the NSW Government in association with Council’s Wastewater Fund, and includes:

    • A new sewage pump station to be located immediately north of the urban precinct.
    • A pumped sewer pipeline connecting the new pump station to Council's existing gravity truck sewer main at Northcott Drive.

As part of these works, a truck turning circle is required and will be established at the end of Northcott Drive. Nearby residents may be impacted by dust, noise, and significantly increased truck movements as we progress through this stage of the project (approximately 6 weeks – subject to weather). Slashing of the manhole area will also be completed regularly, with connection of the manhole to be completed at a later date.

We thank you for your ongoing understanding and support and look forward to delivering this critical infrastructure for the community.

The emergency storage tanks were laid today, with the assistance of a 250tonne crane. The 2.6m diameter pipes will accommodate for any breakdowns and when maintenance is carried out on the pump.

Backfilling operations around these tanks and final concrete segments of the pump station are next to bring the station back to finished surface levels.

    • The rising main is being installed on scheduled, with 1.3km (a third) due to be installed by the end of the year.
    • Completion of the wet well segments is expected to be completed early next year.
    • The odour control unit with active carbon filters has been ordered, ready for installation as the project comes to completion.
