There will be a temporary diversion for traffic using Ballina Road (Bruxner Hwy) tomorrow (Wednesday) from 6am to 6pm.

The diversion is to allow the Australian Defence Force to undertake flood debris and waste removal along the closed section.
  • UPDATE REGARDING BUILDING STRUCTURAL ASSESSMENTS – Tuesday, 8 March 1pm

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

The SES have undertaken rapid damage assessment of buildings only. This amounts to a general observation only.

Residents and business owners are required to organise their own structural assessments before premises are occupied.

To organise an inspection, residents should seek the services of a qualified structural engineer or a licensed builder to review the structural suitability of the premise(s).

If a building is insured, please contact the insurance agency, whom may arrange an inspection.

Council is unable to assist with these inspections as we do not have enough structural engineers for the large number of properties damaged.

  • NIMBIN TRANSFER STATION TO RE-OPEN TUESDAY, 8 MARCH

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link
The Nimbin Transfer Station will re-open Tuesday to Saturday 8am to 3pm until further notice to ensure the community can dispose of perishable and putrescible items.

Please DO NOT bring non-putrescible/ non-perishable flood wastes (eg. furniture, fridges, mattresses etc) until further notice.

For the health of the community and to reduce vermin, we must prioritise disposing of perishable and putrescible (nappies etc) items first.

Servicing the Transfer Station will be heavily restricted by collections vehicle travel times between Nimbin and Lismore. High volumes of traffic on roads in and around Lismore are slowing trucks down.

We ask that deceased animals are buried on property wherever possible.

Flood waste collections such as those which are already underway in Lismore are being scheduled for Lismore’s villages and rural areas, and details will be provided as soon as available from Public Works who are in charge of this massive effort.

Your patience and understanding while the recovery effort continues is appreciated

ANZ will also set up an ATM trailer by Friday at the latest. This will be cash withdrawal/deposit service only.

Essential Energy has restored power to parts of the CBD.

Please continue to use caution. Do not assume that the power is off in your premise.
